The children have worked incredibly hard, and it has been lovely to see them becoming more settled and confident as they get used to the routines and expectations of Year 3. Already, the school day is beginning to feel a little quicker as we find our rhythm!

We have had some particularly exciting moments this week. We even had a volcano erupt in our classroom! The children thoroughly enjoyed this experience and showed lots of curiosity and enthusiasm.

Today, we also saw some fantastic confidence from the children as they stood in front of their classmates to persuade their peers to choose them as their School Council or Eco Council members. It was wonderful to see them speaking clearly, sharing their ideas and showing such courage.

English:

In English, we have decided to extend our current writing unit into next week. We are still developing our understanding of the layout and essential features of instructional writing, and we want to make sure the children have plenty of opportunities to practise and develop these important skills.

We will continue our instructional writing next week, focusing on creating clear, well organised instructions that our readers can easily follow.

Maths:

In Maths, we are following the new Oak Academy maths scheme in Year 3.

Although some of the work may appear quite basic at this stage, revisiting and securing the children's prior learning from Key Stage 1 is extremely important. These fundamental skills provide the building blocks that children will need as they progress further through the Year 3 curriculum.

Please continue to support your child with their number bonds to 10, as these are an important foundation for developing fluency and confidence in Maths.

Homework:

For homework, we have included some examples of questions involving: Number bonds to 1, Doubles,Near doubles.

Please could I ask that children continue to learn and apply their number bonds to 10. The aim is for these facts to become increasingly automatic, allowing children to use them confidently when solving more challenging problems. TTRS, daily reading and spelling practise.

Snack:

A gentle reminder that children should bring a healthy snack to school each day. Thank you for your continued support with this.
