Week Ahead In Discovery 18.05.26

15 May 2026 (by Sonia Coles (scoles))

Thank you to all the parents who were able to join us either in person or online on Tuesday to discuss our upcoming residential trip to Hill End. We appreciate your support and are very excited about the experience ahead.

This week in Science, we have been focusing on the anatomy of plants. The children have explored roots and the important role they play, as well as leaves and their purpose within the plant. We also carried out some fantastic experiments which the children thoroughly enjoyed. Next week, we will continue our Science learning by investigating the stem and its functions.

In Maths, we have continued our topic on shape using the Oak Academy maths scheme. However, from next week we will be returning to White Rose Maths.

Our afternoon subjects have continued as normal and the children have remained focused and enthusiastic across the curriculum.

On Monday, we will be taking part in a special PSHE lesson using our SCARF scheme.

Sarah Lorrimer- Simmonds is running an art project for 4 large canvases which will be put up in school. Children will have the opportunity to take part on Tuesday.

Quad Kids will take place on Tuesday 19th May 2026. Children will have their lunch before 12:30pm and will then make their way to the Oratory. We anticipate the event finishing at approximately 4:00pm. We would like to wish all the children in Discovery the very best of luck!

Homework: Spellings have been issued for next term. Children will be tested in the first week back in term 6. TTRS practise, reading daily for pleasure, maths homework is set on Atom Learning.

Finally, our Star of the Term assembly will take place on Friday at 2:45pm before the end of Term 5.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
