Week Ahead In Discovery 20.04.2617 April 2026 (by Sonia Coles (scoles)) |
It has been a busy and exciting first week back for Discovery Class!
We were delighted to welcome Sue Rosen, our Jewish class visitor, who brought in a range of artefacts and spoke to the children about how Jewish festivals are celebrated. This was a wonderful hands-on experience that really brought learning to life.
As part of our topic work, Discovery Class has been exploring our local village of Nettlebed. Today, we would like to say a very special thank you to Jessie Grimond and Hollie Rosier for inviting our class and providing such a wonderful and knowledgeable experience at the Nettlebed Estate. The children learned about how the land has been used over time and how it has changed. A definite highlight of the day was the tractor-driven wagon ride, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed!
English: After gathering practical, local knowledge about Nettlebed Village, the children will begin to design their own persuasive leaflet.
Maths: We are continuing our Fraction B unit. Please ensure your child practises their times tables daily to support their learning in class and to help secure their understanding.
Homework:
- Maths worksheets have been sent home to consolidate learning from class.
- Times tables practice is essential.
- Reading for pleasure should continue, using VIPERS techniques to support comprehension.
- English homework has been set on the question: Are all settlements the same? This will help prepare the children for their leaflet writing next week.
Thank you for your continued support. Have a lovely weekend!
