Week Ahead In Discovery 16.06.25

15 June 2025 (by Sonia Coles (scoles))

Last week, was brilliant ! The children enjoyed mummifying their very own tomatoes using natron after watching a video on ancient Egyptian mummification process. From this practical experience, they all wrote a set of instructions in writing.

English -This week in class, we’ve been diving into the fascinating world of traditional tales! After reading a well-known version of Cinderella, we explored the origins of the story and were amazed to discover that one of the earliest known versions comes from Ancient Egypt.

The children were particularly intrigued by the story of Rhodopis,a servant girl whose sandal is carried off by an eagle and dropped into the Pharaoh’s lap—leading to an unexpected royal search and a fairy-tale ending!

Inspired by this, the children will now be using their creativity to write their own alternative versions of the Egyptian Cinderella. They’ll be imagining new characters, magical moments, and Egyptian settings, while keeping the spirit of the original tale alive. We’re excited to see their unique twists on this ancient story and can’t wait to share their finished work with you soon!

Maths - Continuation on our unit on Time. Please continue to practise telling the time at home using a digital and analogue clock at home. Homework has also been set appropriately.

Homework- daily reading, spelling practise, spag booklets and maths homework,

On Friday, children can come to school in non- uniform as part of their class treat that they missed last term. They will be allowed trading cards. However, please note this is your child's responsibility to look after them or to trade only if they are happy about it.

Monday has been marked on the calendar as class photos, so please ensure your child wears the current uniform and come to school looking their best.

Due to the weather warming up, all children must bring a hat, wear sun-cream and a fresh bottle of water.

Wishing you all a good week and thank you.
