Unicorn Class Term 1 Week 15 September 2026 (by Rebecca Fenwick (rfenwick)) |
Unicorn Class Blog Term 1 Week 1 Week Commencing 2nd September 2026
It has been lovely welcoming the children back and getting to know the children in the Unicorn Class this week. They have all settled in nicely and enjoyed making new friendships, exploring the Unicorn environment and learning new routines.
We have enjoyed sharing ‘Giraffes can’t dance’ by Giles Andreae and Guy Parker-Rees. There have been lots of discussions around the feelings of Gerald the giraffe and animals in the story. We enjoyed listening to music and making up our own dances. We have also been exploring musical instruments and making music.
The home corner has been very popular with lots of delicious picnics/meals and drinks being prepared, dressing up and playing with the babies.
Painting, using the brio train set, magnetic tiles, sand and water play have also been very popular.
We were fascinated and surprised to see how much the runner bean plants had grown. We also enjoyed searching for and spotting the growing runner beans.
We have been making our own special handprint Unicorn for our own special wall space.
We have enjoyed taking part with a range of stories, nursery rhymes and number songs.
Next week we will be continuing with our ‘All about me and my family topic’ and having a ‘Three little pig theme’.
Just to let you know that Forest School starts on Wednesday 9th September at 9am. Please can your child arrive at school wearing their waterproofs, wellies and bringing a change of clothes. We have got some spares if your child does not own
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Best wishes
