T1 W2 Adventure Class

4 September 2026 (by Elle Freeman (efreeman))

The children have had a brilliant start to their year in Adventure Class! We have seen lots of happy, confident and smiley children coming in each day, which is truly fantastic. Please do enjoy looking through a few photos from our first week as they appear on the class page.

Next Week 07/09

Next week we will continue a lot of settling in and learning about routines. We will include some new activities in our daily routine such as a morning 'dough disco' which aids fine motor skills and hand strength using play dough. We will also get a chance to meet our Year 6 buddies on Tuesday and this will then become a weekly slot.

We will start sharing our All About Me bags from Monday, attempting to do 2-3 a day so everybody gets a fair amount of time to share. The children have been so excited to share them already.

Phonics and Maths will continue to be light-hearted as this week Miss Freeman will begin undertaking the Baseline Assessments, which require children to have not yet started formal teaching of these subjects. Each child will spend 10-15 minutes doing some phonics/sounds activities, some maths activities, and some general understanding activities, which give a basic outline of their current level. This is a government required assessment and will hopefully take no longer than this week!

We will continue to share some favourite books, do some portrait painting and share facts about ourselves. We will get some physical activity during P.E, undertaking the BEAM programme which builds core movement skills such as balance, agility and strength.

Reminders

Please ensure your child has a raincoat on days where rain is forecast! We have been short of spare coats with many children not bringing these each day.
