Welcome back to the new school year! I hope everyone has had a good break and is ready for the new term. I can’t wait to get started!

This first week is a short one and we’ll spend plenty of time getting everyone settled in and up to speed with the class routines and expectations for behaviour and learning.

You will find updated curriculum information for Year 4 and Year 5 on the class page along with an overview of the term’s spellings for each year group.

Geography TOPIC

We will launch our new geography topic ‘Why does population change?’  Key vocabulary for week 1 is as follows:

• population
• population distribution
• densely populated
• sparsely populated
• population density

Reading

Information was sent out at the start of the holiday about our new shared reader, The Boy at the Back of the Classroom by Onjali Q. Rauf.

Please try to obtain a copy, as children will need them throughout the term. Do try second-hand booksellers online - there is no need to buy new. I am also providing a link to a PDF copy of the first ten chapters of the book

Homework

New spellings will be given out on Friday

No other homework this week apart from reading (shared reader or own reading book).
