Unicorn Class Blog Term 6 Week 6 Week Commencing 6th July 2026
Wow, the Unicorn class children have been amazing this week. It has been so hot outside but they have enjoyed the cool air from the air conditioning units and having ice pops. The Unicorn Class loved their teddy bear theme this week. They loved going to explore the walled garden with a teddy or toy. They worked together to make houses, castles and boats out of the plastic blocks, spotted lots of butterflies, flowers, played colour eye spy, ball games and did races. They also liked having mini picnics each day and using their imagination to have picnics. The children all listened to different versions of the story Goldilocks and the three bears. Then retold and acted out the story and made up their own versions.
We have loved playing different food related games, ‘The packed lunch game’, ‘A Chef game’ and ‘The shopping list game’. We were good at taking turns, talking about the different foods we needed for the game, what foods we liked and disliked and food we liked making.
This week we have also enjoyed listening to stories, dressing up, painting, drawing, playing with playdough, water, sand, building with the Mobillo, Numberblocks, Duplo and magnetic shapes.
Our main maths focus this week has been comparing sizes and making comparisons between different objects relating to size, some examples of this has been through comparing the sizes of the bears, their bowls, spoons, chairs and beds. We have also been comparing each other's heights and our buildings and models.
During phonics we have been singing nursery rhymes, listening to rhyming stories, playing alliteration games and listening games. We have also been singing the alphabet chant, playing Georgie's gym and recapping letter sounds.
Next week we are having a pirate theme including making treasure maps and hats and searching for treasure.
Hope you are all having a lovely weekend
Best Wishes
