The Week Ahead T6Wk312 June 2026 (by Sarah Roberts (sroberts)) |
What an interesting week we have had in History and English lessons. Our starting point was an incomplete entry in the 1841 census. Mary Bucktrout was the 13-year-old daughter of W. Bucktrout of Hunslet, Leeds. The census does not even tell us that she worked in a flax mill but Investigator’s history super sleuths have pieced together the evidence and know what became of her. Ask them!
Some fantastic diary entries have been produced with children writing as Mary herself. Well done everyone – they make great reading.
Next week, in our topic work we will explore jobs available to people in the Victorian era using the census as a starting point.
