Unicorn Class Term 6 Week 212 June 2026 (by Rebecca Fenwick (rfenwick)) |
Unicorn Class Blog Term 6 Week 2 Week Commencing 8th June 2026
Wow, what an exciting week the Unicorn Class have had, with the first coach trip for many children and a visit to Beale Park. The children were very excited to see lots of different animals, real and pretend. Watching the lemurs, otters, zebras, meerkats and climbing onto a crocodile statue were lots of children’s favourites. We had a picnic together. (Please see pictures on the slide show). This week we have enjoyed playing with the farm animals and drawing and painting pictures from our Beale Park visit.
We have continued to learn about the different planets in our solar system and have enjoyed using real balloons to make the planets using paper mache. We also loved playing with balloons, throwing and catching them. We made name rockets using paper shapes and the letters in our names.
We have been playing ‘Duck, Duck, Goose!’, ‘Hide and seek’, ‘The three little pigs’, building dens, making potions, using the large and small sandpit, climbing the climbing frame, playing the musical instruments, taking turns on the bikes and scooters.
During phonics we have been rhyming, using alliteration, recapping all of the sounds we have learnt so far, orally segmenting and blending. We have been practising writing the letters, lots of us have wanted to use our letter knowledge to attempt to write on the big whiteboards, note books, pictures. We enjoyed playing our Crocodile game and Picnic on Pluto. We were good at reading the words and deciding whether they were real words for Bob or fake words for Obb.
During maths this week we have been doing lots of counting, solving real mathematical problems with numbers and linking numerals to amounts.
The home corner has been very busy with children enjoying making delicious food, pretending to be families and looking after the babies. The home corner has also been a café with lots of orders being taken of food, food being prepared and meals being eaten.
This week we have also enjoyed using the magnetic tiles, Duplo, Mobillo and Lego have continued to be popular with the small world animals and figures added to make stories around what they had made.
Next week we will be continuing our space theme and we will start practising for Sports Day.
Please can your child bring in a baby picture, as part of our SCARF, we will be looking at and discussing the differences and how they have changed.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend and look forward to more exploring with you next week.
Best wishes
Mrs Fenwick
