Weekly News

24 April 2026 (by Sarah Roberts (sroberts))

This Week - Next Week

I have enjoyed reading children’s diary entries this week. They have been writing as either of the two protagonists in The Song Walker and they have shown great understanding of the text and written some engaging diary entries in character.

Geography Topic next week, we will be looking further at the physical features of deserts, naming them and finding out how they were formed. We’ll take an in-depth look at Death Valley.

Great News

Investigator Class have won the house point treat this week! They have been very close quite a few times and were just pipped to the post. The class treat will be next Friday and I will let you know what we decide to do next week. I am sure they will opt to wear non-school uniform as part of the treat.

Sun Protection

Children were reminded in assembly today that they should take the following precautions in hot weather.

  • Sun cream should be worn (applied at home before you come to school)
  • Bring a sun hat
  • Make sure you have a full water bottle in school everyday

A date for your diary

There will be a Hill End Parents’ Information Meeting on Tuesday 12th May at 3.45pm. You will be able to attend in person or join online. Mrs Davey and I will be on hand to talk about this year’s trip and answer any questions you may have. This year children are sleeping in Bell Tents. I’ll send an invitation to the Teams Meeting nearer the time but I wanted to give you a chance to save the date.
