Welcome to Term 5

17 April 2026 (by Sarah Roberts (sroberts))

Welcome back!

Congratulations to all of Investigator Class who have started the term with a great attitude and who have shown that they are ready for learning.

Our new geography topic is called ‘Would you like to live in the desert?’. We have started with research into what characterises a hot desert biome and in English, the class have written two contrasting pieces – one, an informal postcard sent from their desert field trip and the other, a formal non-chronological report based on a hot desert biome.

Next week in topic work, we will be looking further at the features of deserts and their location worldwide.

As always, please do encourage additional research at home on areas that interest the children. Homemade presentations or topic-related ‘show-and-tells’ are always welcome.

This week, we enjoyed a visit from Sue who spoke to the class about Judaism and in particular the food eaten at celebrations. It was very interesting and the children thought of some great questions to ask.

Tennis coaching with Tom Scott also started this week – he will be working with the class for the next four weeks.

Shared Reader – The Song Walker. Clearing up tonight, I have noticed quite a few copies of the book have been left in school. As you can see below, homework is reading to the end of chapter 3. A PDF of the entire book is available here: Song Walker download.

Homework
