Term 3 Week 3 in Adventure Class23 January 2026 (by Elle Freeman (efreeman)) |
This week just gone the children have looked at some really interesting countries on the map so far, including: Canada, Kazakhstan, Norway and South Sudan. We have found out about the temperature, natural environment, flags and other information from each country. Following from that we explored instruments around the world, listened and analysed the sounds- sharing which ones we enjoyed best.
We have done lots of sounding out this week and beginning to write some words independently- I’m so impressed with how each child has focused and tried their best to use the sounds they know to help them!
We looked at the sounds:

Next Week
Phonics this week will include the sound: igh
Now we are beginning to look solely at digraphs, we will only have one focus sound a week. We will also be consolidating all the previous sounds we have learned to ensure they are embedded.
Maths this week will focus on comparison and simple addition under 10 again.
Our shared reader this week will be: At Dusk
EYFS Learning
In EAD: We will be making animals from clay, choosing ones we have researched this week.
In UTW: We will look at thermometers, hot and cold, science experiments.
In Literacy: We will be continuing to read ‘One Snowy Night’ and retelling the stories with our own details and ideas.
PE: Ball skills and gymnastics continue (ball skills weather dependent)
This Week’s Notices
Please can all parents ensure that they are prompt for pick -up, should you be later than 10 minutes, your child will need to be collected from the office. If you are aware you will be late, please do notify the office.
If anyone (including grandparents and family, or other parents) is picking up your child, it is ESSENTIAL you speak with the office. We are not allowed to hand over children without prior consent, and this should be done before reaching the gate to allow us to release all children smoothly.
Thank you for your understanding in both these matters!
