The Week Ahead ... (T1, Wk3)14 September 2025 (by Abigail Winter (awinter)) |
A Wonderful First 'Full' Week Back
To Our Lovely Team of Highflyer Parents
It has been wonderful to meet so many of you last week - thank you! But also wanted to drop you all another quick note to say how delighted Mrs Burbedge, Mrs Shrimpton, Miss Smith and I have all been to see how easily the children have all settled into, and embraced, their new routines! Naturally they have all needed a little time to 'find their feet' so to speak - but thank you all once again for your wonderful support - given Year 2 already feels like, we hope, an exciting new experience - and one that will result in a great year enjoyed by all!
Looking ahead to this week coming, would it PLEASE be possible to possibly revert to a 'Plan B' re: our Forest School sessions; whereby all the children arrive/come in school already 'dressed' for our Outdoor Learning - regardless of the timetabled Singing Assembly and Phonics session etc beforehand. They all enjoyed such a super first morning - but 'changing twice' in under two hours was quite an adventure (?!) for all those present; therefore, Mrs Shrimpton and Miss Smith have both politely asked if I could possibly drop an updated note/plea onto our Class Blog for this week (15th) ... to ensure that the children all know that they have been officially 'invited' to arrive in their outdoor clothing etc (wellies/uniform in a named bag if possible) - knowing how much they will learn from these brilliant sessions but, fingers crossed, simplified slightly by removing the need to 'change from dry to wet clothing' away from early morning excitement levels! Mrs Greenwood is aware - and, of course, is in full support; phew :)!
Aside from this 'tiny teething issue', our fabulous first term feels well underway; and we are all hugely looking forward to working with you all over the academic year. Please do remember, however, that communication with our parents is - as always - of utmost importance and that we are all happy to address any concerns with you - via email, appointment or even by calling; given we are, I promise, here to provide the very best education for your fantastically awe-inspiring children!
HUGE thanks again - for your continued support; and here's to another super week including House Captain Elections, the imminent announcement of our Year 2 School and Eco Councillors plus our first 'school-based' 7th birthday celebrations! Terrific stuff ...
Kindest
Mrs Winters
