First Week of the Year26 August 2025 (by Sarah Roberts (sroberts)) |
Welcome back, everyone! It is such an exciting time of year and I can’t wait to see all your smiling faces and hear about your summer adventures.
It is going to be a very short first week back but we’ll waste no time and we’re kicking off the year with an exciting new topic: “What is life like in the Alps?” From snowy peaks to alpine animals, we’ll be diving into geography, culture, and nature in one of Europe’s most breathtaking regions.
To spark our imaginations, we’ll be sharing the wonderful story King of the Cloud Forests by Michael Morpurgo. Set in the Himalayas, it’s a perfect companion to our alpine geography topic, filled with adventure, emotion, and stunning mountain landscapes. This year children will be required to read some of the text independently in preparation for work in school and will need access to their own copy. We do have some copies in school but we hope that many of you will be able to order second hand copies so that all children can access the text at home. Please see the separate email which outlines our approach to reading in the upper school.
Use the buttons at the top of class page to see the Term 1 timetable and Term 1 Curriculum news. You can also access the spelling lists for the whole term here. Week 1 spellings will be issued to the pupils this week and tested next week.
This first week is all about getting to know each other again, building our classroom community, and setting the tone for a fantastic year ahead. I can't wait to get started!
Have a great week!
