Highflyer Class Term 6 Week 419 June 2025 (by Dorothy Wyatt (dwyatt)) |
William the Conqueror 23 June 2025
We learnt about William the Conqueror from Normandy last week and this week we are learning about different types of castles that he built around Britain. We will look at the different parts, what they were called and why parts of them were included. In English we are finding out about Richard III. We are writing a diary entry of one of Richard III’s nephews in the Tower of London and include what they might have seen/heard/felt etc. remembering that the Tower of London is a Norman castle.
Forest School continues on Tuesday and P.E. on Thursday as timetabled. This term P.E. on Thursday is athletics.
For the remainder of this term we are reviewing the phonics taught over the last year - remembering the spelling patterns for differing graphemes that are similar in sounds. Spellings will be given for the next two weeks. These will be a selection from the past year.
Maths we are continue with statistics - looking at data and creating graphs. Our mastering number focus is to develop a deeper understanding of strategies to calculate and help problem solve as well.
Please remember to return the weekly maths homework by Friday of each week. Also, as this week's temperature is hopefully less than last week, please don't forget sun-cream to be applied before school, sun-hat and a water bottle.
Enjoy your week and keep cool.
