The weeks are flying by and we are nearly half way through Term 6! Our history research has helped us understand more about Viking exploration: where they went and what they did when they got there.

This week, we will discover the importance of Viking sagas. We will find out about the voyages of Leif Erikson, a famous Viking explorer. We will hear two accounts of the same voyage to discover Vinland, considering why there are different versions of the same events.

Wonderland the Musical

Rehearsals for the upper school play are going very well. Thanks to all the children who are learning their lines, learning the songs and contributing to the production and staging behind the scenes. Let’s keep up the effort!

How can you help?

Learn the Songs

Please help your children to learn the song words – this is Wonderland the Musical and everyone is involved in the singing. All children have their own scripts which include the words and the tracks are available online. You can access YouTube karaoke-style tracks to practise the songs here.

Costumes and Props 

Please continue to bring in costumes and props and remember there is no need to buy new items – we hope to find everything we need by making, borrowing or reusing.

Year 4 costumes:

Y4 are guests at the scene 1 dinner party – they should wear black and white only, please. They will also be animals in the Caucus Race. The transformation could be very simple with just the addition of an animal headband or headpiece.

We need the following items:

• butterfly costume
• a ladybird costume
• a baby-sized toy pig
• a length of chain – enough to wrap around a child
