Highflyer Class Term 5 Week 225 April 2025 (by Dorothy Wyatt (dwyatt)) |
Features of Coasts. 28 April 2025
What a first week we all had for the start of Term 5! Only four days but a lot was packed in! The topic on living by the sea was launched on Tuesday but for this week will look at features we find on the coast - e.g. beach, cliff, cave, sand dunes etc. Although those are physical features we will also be thinking about what we have built on the coast such as a pier, a harbour and groynes and recognising the the difference bewteen natuaral and physical geography. We will also be looking at different coasts around the British Isles.
Forest School continues on Tuesday and P.E. on Thursday as timetabled.
Please remember to send in your child's planner with their shared reader. Please send in any previous loaned books from school. There are still a few outstanding to be returned.
Our phonic focus is: Week 2 /u/ phoneme spelt ‘o’ (e.g. other/mother)
/o/ phoneme spelt ‘a’ (e.g. want/wash)
Homophones: sun/so
Maths continues the unit about fractions - learning about ' quarters' and 'thirds' and discovering what is a unit fraction. Our mastering number focus is to develop a deeper understanding of strategies to calculate and help problem solve as well.
Please remember to return the weekly maths homework by Friday of each week.
Have a good week.
