What a fabulous first week back! It has been great to see all of the children again and they have impressed me in so many ways; the Year 4s have settled in easily to their new classroom and the Year 5s have welcomed them enthusiastically. Keep it up everyone – it’s going to be a great year!
Geography Topic
We have already made a great start to our new topic, beginning with an exploration of biomes and finding out where in the world the Amazon rainforest is situated.
We are already gripped by the story of the four children lost in the Amazon jungle after their plane crash in The Explorer. Children have shown a great deal of knowledge about the rainforest and no small amount of common sense in their suggestions as to how the children will overcome the perilous situations that they might encounter.
Next week: What is the Amazon rainforest like? We will describe the characteristics of each layer of a tropical rainforest.
Homework
New spellings have been set and will be tested next week.
Year 5 have maths homework set on Atom. Year 4s will have Atom maths to complete from next week.
Children should be reading every night.
Next Week
Forest School for Year 5 starts on Tuesday. The children should wear Forest School clothes to school in the morning and bring their school uniform to change into afterwards. The forecast at the time of writing is for light rain, so dress accordingly.
Have a great week!
