We understand that families can wait for a long time for services and could be left with limited support whilst they wait for diagnoses or referrals. We have compiled some useful websites under the four areas of need we use in school, in case they are useful:
Social, Emotional and Mental Health
For parents of and children themselves, that may be experiencing mental health and wellbeing challenges and need support. Their website contains a number of useful guides and a support line for immediate assistance.
A one-stop hub for children and young people's mental health for parents and professionals.
Anna Freud's children and young people's wellbeing resources aim to empower young people to make informed choices about their mental health & wellbeing. The resource pages have been co-produced by young people to help other young people.

Cognition & Learning
The British Dyslexia Association offers guidance, resources, and advice for parents and educators supporting children with dyslexia and dyscalculia.
EasyReader removes barriers to accessible reading, so anyone with a print disability can read independently. Unlock additional premium features in-app and connect to accessible book libraries worldwide.
Learn touch typing online using TypingClub's free typing courses. It includes 650 typing games, typing tests and videos. We use this in school so please ask you child's teacher for a login or email senco@nettlebed.oxon.sch.uk and you will be sent a login.
Offering free, unlimited access to selected games and teaching ideas across several phonics phases - play these as many times as you like! The website also offers a paid subscription area.
A collection of free and highly accessible educational activities. .Learners will find them easy to use independently and each activity has a range of accessibility and difficulty options.
Communication & Interaction
Offers useful advice and guidance for families, educators and professionals. The website also offers a progress checker which offers help and resources for specific speech challenges.
Provides expert information, fact sheets, and a telephone-booking service for parents and practitioners seeking advice on children's communication via I CAN.
Action for Stammering Children
Delivers specialised advice, resources, and tips for parents supporting children who stammer.
A website which does require a subscription but Widgit symbols are used extensively in school and parents are welcome to explore it independently or ask a member of staff for help to create Widgit symbol documents for children to use at home.
Signalong is a key word sign-supported communication system based on British sign language and is used in spoken word order. It uses speech, sign, body language, facial expression and voice tone to reference the link between sign and word.

Children Today helps to change the lives of children and young people with disabilities across the UK every day by providing specialised equipment and support to children and families in need, they aim to help give these children more independence and the best possible quality of life as well as help minimise social isolation and improve their physical and mental health.
