Our Vision
At Nettlebed Community School, we are committed to ensuring that every child feels valued, included and supported to thrive. We believe that all children, regardless of their individual needs, deserve access to high-quality teaching, meaningful participation in school life, a broad, balanced and inclusive education and opportunities that nurture them academically, socially and emotionally to help them to achieve their full potential.
Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision is rooted in a nurturing, child-centred approach. We work closely with pupils, families and external professionals to create a supportive environment where every learner is empowered to succeed.
We believe in helping children to become confident, independent learners, regardless of need.

How We Support Our Pupils
At Nettlebed Community School, we use a graduated approach to SEND support which takes place three times per academic year through detailed pupil progress meetings. We follow the Assess, Plan, Do, Review (APDR) cycle:
- Assess – Identifying needs through careful observation and assessment
- Plan – Creating personalised support plans in partnership with families
- Do – Delivering targeted interventions and high-quality teaching
- Review – Monitoring progress and adapting support as needed
Support may include:
- Differentiated classroom teaching
- Small group or 1:1 interventions
- Emotional and wellbeing support
- Access to specialist services where appropriate
Working in Partnership
We recognise that strong partnerships with parents and carers are essential. We value your insights and encourage open communication at every stage of your child’s journey.
We also collaborate with a range of external professionals, including educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and specialist advisory services, to ensure the best outcomes for our pupils.
