A huge happy welcome to Term 5. We hope that you have had a brilliant time at Easter, enjoyed all the Easter treats and time spent with family and friends during the holiday period. Our English spring weather has been mixed with snow, hail and fabulous sunshine. From now we hope that the sun continues to shine, but we will welcome the rain for the plants to grow.
In term 5 the topic will be 'Journeys' There will be a mixture of non-fiction and fiction books to help us to learn about journeys using different transport. In the first week we will focus on journeys in cars and on boats. The construction kits will be used to make cars and these will be used for descriptive writing. Boats with sails will be made and the children will learn about the parts of the boat. This will link to the shape focus for our maths work.

In phonics we will be using Phase 3 sounds for reading real words and alien words. We will be using phonic knowledge when spelling words in our writing. it is important to revisit and remember the tricky words to improve fluency when reading.
The focus of the maths is addition, number bond recall and seeing patterns in addition sentences. We are going to look at shapes, both plane and solid and explore rolling, stacking and represent this information in a data handling format.

We look forward to seeing you in school.
