Welcome back Challenger Class

We are delighted to be welcoming back ALL of the Challenger Class children to school next week. It has been a challenging lockdown for everyone and I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all of the parents and other family members who have supported the children so brilliantly at home and enabled them to keep on learning.
The recent presentations have been a pleasure to watch and I hope children enjoyed preparing for them. Children who have not yet shown theirs to the class will have the opportunity next week and we are looking forward to seeing them.
In week 3, we will continue our Incredible India topic and will be looking into the lives of children in India. The focus will be on children at school and the similarities and differences between schools in the UK and schools in India. We will also be looking at the features of formal and informal letters, writing a letter to an Indian child as well as composing a class email to a child in India.
Later in the week, technology permitting, we will take part in a live zoom link with some Indian children (friends of Ms Coles) who live in Pune, near Mumbai.
PE days are the same as before Christmas. For the remainder of Term 3 we will be doing hockey on Tuesdays, which fits in nicely with the India topic, as field hockey is the national sport of India. Hockey in KS1 is skills based and there will be no tackling involved so no gum shields or shin pads necessary. Indoor PE will be dance.
Bringing work into school
Please could you send in all work completed whilst children have been at home. It would be very useful if it were sorted into subjects. In addition, children should bring any Incredible India project work and if anyone has presentations that have not yet been delivered, we will have opportunities to present them next week. Don’t forget maths booklets (especially the current one) and handwriting booklets.
Please bring outdoor coats and wellies if wet as we would like to have some outdoors time as well.
