Weekly Round Up

A WORD FROM THE HEADTEACHER

We have all been learning about internet safety this week in school and reminding everybody how to stay safe. This is never more relevant as lockdown and the weather means we are all spending more time at home and on-line with various devices. We want children to be connected and use technology but we must do all we can to try and educate them to the safe ways to do so. Please do remember to check your child's device and ensure parental controls are in place.

There have been several curriculum sessions running this week and last which parents and carers were invited to attend: Mrs Lonsdale ran a Phonics and early reading session; Ms Roberts led a Maths session and I ran a session regarding Zones of Emotional Regulation and Restorative Justice. These were all well attended and there were some brilliant discussions and questions which were raised. It is so important to work as a team and make sure we are all supporting each other. Thank you to those who joined.

If you missed the meetings, there is lots of phonics information available on the website to support you and we are looking to develop the maths section too. We will keep you informed. Please also do ask your teachers any specific questions.

We have added extra tabs for the Zones of Emotional Regulation as well as restorative justice to the website where we have added the PowerPoint from the session as well as supporting resources you can download and use at home. The curriculum does allow for this copyright to be shared with the school body. I will look to run another session next term for anyone else who wishes to learn more and also to have a chance for parents to share experiences.

Christmas Star

It is that time of year when we ask you all to make a wonderful star to decorate the top of our tree. This year, we are putting the tree out on the playground so we can all enjoy it. Therefore, your stars need to be weather-proof or able to last a few weeks! Each entry will gain 5 points for their House and the winning star to grace the top of the tree will earn 50 points.

Which House will be victorious?

Next Term's After School Clubs

At our last School Council meeting the children reported that they would like some different clubs and listed 3 ideas: Forest School Club, a basketball club and a Hip Hop/Street dance club. I am pleased to say that thanks to Mrs Sedwell's hard work, all of these are going ahead in January's club brochure. Pupil power!

The children in Years 1 - 6 will have a chance to trial the Hip Hop dance session on Monday. They will wear their normal uniform (unless they already have PE) as it is only a short session.

I wish you all a warm and wonderful weekend.
