Week Ahead 9.11.2020 in Discovery Class
What a great start to Term 2! The children were happy to return to class and settled into routine so beautifully.
English and Topic: Our topic for this term is The British Isles.
All children used a map to identify where the United Kingdom is situated, the four countries that make up the UK. We looked at the 4 flags, their names, the national flower for each country and languages. The children drew and coloured their own flowers and flags.
They also learned about the Gunpowder Plot and wrote a few known facts.
The week ahead, we will be exploring more of the UK. The children will be writing persuasive text, designing their own leaflets to visit a country in the United Kingdom.
Maths: Our unit on addition and subtraction has now come to an end. This term our main focus will be multiplication and division. Children will be set mini tasks involving addition and subtraction as regular practise and reminder.
Science: Our topic is Rocks.
Children have looked at the 3 main types of rocks and the layers of soil. They all had the opportunity to examine various rocks and fossils. We will continue with this in the coming week.
Apologies! For not giving some children a letter/form for the Nettlebed tea towels. I will ensure that these will be put in your child's school bag on Monday.
Homework: Weekly homework includes spellings, times tables, extra addition and subtraction this week, the maths booklet and reading. Supporting your child with their homework is greatly appreciated!
I wish you all a good week ahead!
