Week 5, Term 6, Highflyers

This week the Highflyers will create their own treasure maps with directions and messages in bottles. There will be a focus on using imperative verbs in their writing. If you have a spare plastic bottle at home please send it in with your child.

In maths we will carry on with our topic on Measurement, focusing on capacity and volume.

The spellings for the Highflyers to learn this week are Common exception words. Please can I stress the importance that the children still practise their spellings at home despite them being covered previously, to ensure they are secure.

I am delighted to announce that the Highflyers won last weeks’ HousePoints competition. It was really well deserved and I’m very proud of them! We will carry out a vote this week to decide on a way to celebrate.

On Friday 9th July we have sports day and I will make sure I take lots of pictures to share with you next week. Please can your child come into school in their PE kits that day.

The date has moved for the seaside beach party to Monday 12th July. Children are welcome to bring in supper soakers, inflatables, buckets and spades, etc. We will of course have lots of things for them to use in school if they choose not to. It is crucial they have a spare set of clothes as it’s likely they’ll get wet and sandy.

I look forward to an exciting week ahead with the brilliant Highflyers!
