Week 2, Term 5, Highflyers

I have been really impressed with all the children’s effort into learning during their first week back at school. They have settled back into the routines smoothly and positively.

This week the Highflyers will look at different styles of books and poetry with transport themes. They will focus on the different word classes and rhyming language with the aim of writing their own rhyming story.

Spellings this week will be on the suffixes -less and -ly and homophones and near homophones.

In maths they will be learning about comparing, measuring, and ordering lengths and heights.

The Highflyers will use ICT skills this week to research and answer questions about Transport and influential people within that sector.

The children will also have the opportunity of representing the Highflyer class on the School’s Eco council. If your child would like to be considered for election, they need to prepare a short speech about why they are passionate about saving our planet and why they should be voted.

It is school photographs on Wednesday this week. Please could you make sure children are wearing the correct school uniform.

I look forward to an exciting week ahead with the wonderful Highflyers!
