This Week in Investigator Class

After a brilliant start to the term, we are kicking off this week with the introduction of our exciting new topic - ‘Battles that changed British history’. We will begin to look at a timeline of British history and work out where our first battle - The Battle of Bannockburn - fits in. We will be incorporating some drama into our topic before writing a recount.

In maths, we will be extending our knowledge of Place Value and continuing to practise our times tables.

This week we are learning what pentatonic scales are and how we can recognise them. We will also try playing them on instruments.

Whole class PE will be on Tuesday. Please can children come into school in their PE kit for the entire day. Year 4 will also have PE on Wednesdays, PE kit to be worn all day too. Year 5 start Forest School on Wednesday 9th September, they are to come into school in their uniform and bring a change of clothes/shoes for Forest School. All kit was listed in the recent letter, if you are still to return the permission slip, please do so as soon as you are able.

Spellings were handed out on Friday (this will usually happen on Thursdays) and will be tested on Thursday afternoons. I appreciate that this only gives 6 days to practise this week but there will be extra opportunities to practise them during our early work sessions.

I'm really looking forward to busy but brilliant week ahead, see you all tomorrow!
