The Week Ahead in Challenger T6Wk3

Well done to the Challenger children who coped well with an unusual week. Firstly they didn't have their usual class teacher and secondly they had to cope with some extraordinarily hot weather. It's back to normal on Monday and we have another packed week ahead of us.

Here is a summary of the week's learning:

Phonics and Spellings

We will continue revising and consolidating phonic knowledge this week. Spellings will be informed by the outcome of the CEW assessment made last week. I will give out lists on Monday.

English

We will use the Ashanti tales of Anansi the Spider as a focus. Children will work on adjectives and sentence punctuation (full stops, question marks and exclamation marks) as they write a description and sections of the story. Later they will try to make up an alternative ending to one of the Anansi the Spider stories.

Maths

Comparing 2 digit numbers using a range of methods. We will model numbers with base 10 equipment and write them in a table to highlight the tens and ones digits. Children will use the inequality symbols to express 'greater than' or 'less than'.

With a firm grasp of what each digit in a 2 digit number represents, they'll be able to order numbers and find one more and one less than a number.

PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education)

For our PSHE lesson on Tuesday (Then and Now), please could you provide two photos of your child. One should be as a baby and one as a toddler. Please send these in by Monday so that I can prepare for the session the following day. They could be attached to an email or photocopies or actual photos. Thanks in advance for your help.

Have a splendid week!
