The Week Ahead in Challenger

A very Happy New Year to you all!

Firstly, I must thank you all for your lovely Christmas gifts – it is very kind of you. I hope that all the children and their families have had a lovely holiday and are raring to go with the new term ahead of us.

As this is a short week, we will not see the launch of our new topic until next week. Writing this week will focus on sentence work and children will be writing about their favourite day or event of the holidays. They may like to bring something in to support this writing - a photo, a place name, a leaflet etc.

This will be a consolidation week in maths with an opportunity to establish a firm understanding of place value in numbers up to 20. Our mastering number sessions will focus on composition of 10 and number bonds to 10.

Spellings this week are the Days of the Week and I will be assessing children on Friday. If your child is very confident with these spellings, they should move on to months of the year and seasons.

Children will have PE on Thursday with a coach from Performance Sport. They should wear PE kit as usual on this day.
