The Week Ahead, Highflyers, 6th Sept

The children settled back into school life and routines beautifully last week and should feel very proud of themselves.

The week ahead..

English & Topic

This week we will be writing to inform. The children will learn to write instructions for how to catch a bear. We will use Michael Rosen’s Story book ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’ and spending lots of time outside to get inspiration.

Spellings

The spelling to learn this week are focusing on the /n/ spelt ‘kn’ and less often ‘gn’ at the beginning of words. An overview of this term’s spellings can be found on this Highflyer class page.

Maths

We will start the unit on Place Value. The children will recap on counting forwards and backwards within 50 and comparing numbers within 50. They will go on to counting objects to 100 and reading and writing the numbers in numerals and words.

RE

This unit is on ‘Rules and Routines’. We will look at why we have rules and routines and how they help us in our everyday lives.
