The Week Ahead and Fitness Frenzy
We are looking forward to the final week of our India topic which will culminate in our Holi festival celebration on Friday. In Challenger Class the children are off on a virtual tour of India and in English lessons they will draw on their knowledge of India to complete various writing tasks. They’ll start the week by deciding what to pack in their suitcase and explaining their choices based on their knowledge of the different regions and climate of India.
In maths we will start the week with revision and consolidation of strategies for addition and subtraction and place value within 50. Later in the week, work focuses on capacity and volume.
The phonics focus is on alternative spellings of /ur/ and for the RAPID group we are looking at on the digraph or. New spellings will be given out on Monday and tested on Friday.
Fitness Frenzy Challenge
All year 1 children are competing in this Woodcote Partnership challenge. This is designed to promote physical activity and counteract any lost fitness because of restrictions on sports due to the COVID pandemic. Please see details of the three challenges in the videos below. Children will complete the Fitness Frenzy activities in school this week and are also encouraged to practise at home. You can send in a verified score for any or all of the via the class email. This must be strictly timed and counted by an adult. I will enter the best scores for each child.
Challenger children have agreed that we don’t have to win the competition but that we do want to do our very best. So please, have a go at home and send in those scores.
