Next Week in Challenger Term3/Wk3

Science week

Next week will have a science focus and Challenger will be thinking about seasonal changes and how they affect our lives.

We will continue to record the temperature and weather at different times of the day. Practical experiments will include using thermometers to measure the temperature of a number of different things.

Songs and Rhymes

If you have any favourite songs or rhyumes about the weather, please teach your children so that they can share them with the rest of the class. Children in Year 1 should be able to learn a song or a rhyme by heart and we'll put this to practice this week.

In maths we will focus on addition and subtraction within 20. We will be using a range of strategies including counting on and using knowledge of number bonds. Children continue to acquire number fluency in their Mastering Number sessions.

Maths homework is given out at the start of the week and should be handed in by the end of the week. Please help your children to understand the activities. It is fine to help them - the Reasoning and Problem Solving questions are designed to be discussed.

In Phonics, we will be looking at alternative spellings for the phoneme /ee/ and the RAPID group will focus on the ch digraph.

Have a great week!
