Looking forward this week..

We had a brilliant and busy week in Investigators last week! The children worked really hard to plan and write a recount about the Battle of Bannockburn -they have been immersing themselves in Middle Age Britain and learning the chronology of the battle in order to describe it. We will begin this week by typing up our recounts and then turning our attention to the Battle of Hastings! We will also create a fact file of battles that changed British history and look at the geography of the UK.

In maths, we are continuing with our Place Value unit. Year 4s will be exploring number lines to 10,000 and Year 5s to a million, then comparing ordering and rounding numbers towards the end of the week. I will be giving out our Schofield & Sims workbooks for their homework this week but please do continue to practise times tables as much as possible.

This website is brilliant for generating a sheet with specific or all tables, there is also an option to generate inverse questions which really helps the children to cement their tables facts. We will sometimes use these in our early work.

We learned about some really inspirational people and their beliefs in RE last week. They sparked some interesting class discussions and the children were completely engaged. This week, we’re focusing on Computing. This news caused great excitement in class!

I would just like to say a huge thank you for your patience and support as I have settled into Nettlebed, it’s been lovely to meet you all briefly at the end of the day -I look forward to meeting you properly in due course.

Have a brilliant week!
