Investigator Class, Week 4, Term 1

It was lovely to see so many of you at the open class on Tuesday; thank you for taking the time to come and say hello. Hopefully, you will have seen that there are parent conferences on 4th and 6th October where there will be a further opportunity to discuss your child. Please follow this link to book your appointment if you have not done so already, I look forward to talking to you more about how your child has settled into school this year.
Mrs Greenwood also mentioned in her email on Friday that we are to have online sessions with Ardley Energy Recovery Facility to tie in with our EcoSchools topic. Investigator Class will be meeting with them on Wednesday 28th September. During this session we will have the opportunity to look at materials that can and cannot be recycled. If you have any tricky items at home that you are not sure belong in the recycling or rubbish please send them in so we can ask the expert!
In my absence on Friday you also received an email from Mrs Burbedge about homework books. Hopefully you should have all seen these in your child’s bag on Friday. Maths is due in on Wednesday and English on Thursday along with spellings. If you have any questions about this please do get in touch with me.
Literacy:
This week we will be concluding our work on Biomes with class presentations. We will then be looking at creative writing and in particular how we describe settings. This will culminate in a creative writing piece based around a story starter of an extreme weather event to link to our EcoSchools topic.
Maths:
We will finish our section on place value and move onto recapping and extending our knowledge of addition.
Homework:
Spelling words and sheets were handed out on Thursday with words to be practised everyday until the test on Thursday.
Maths homework books were handed out. Year 5 should attempt section A and B; Year 4s should attempt section A to begin with. Children are welcome to try further sections of this weeks work if they want to!
English homework books were handed out. As with Maths, Year 5 should attempt section A and B; Year 4s should attempt section A to begin with. Children are welcome to try further sections of this weeks work if they want to!
