Investigator Class, Week 2, Term 2

We certainly kicked off Term 2 with lots of energy last week. Being back at school, seeing friends, Halloween and Bonfire Night all made for an exciting and high-spirited week. This next week will be calmer as we get back into school routines.
In literacy this week we will begin a two-week focus on myths and legends. We will be looking at the features of these stories and exploring Beowulf in detail; a perfect companion to our history focus on the Anglo-Saxons. This will also be explored through our Dance work in PE as we build each week the stories surrounding of King Alfred.
This week in maths will see Year 5 continue their investigations into factors and multiples and Year 4 start their unit on multiplication and division. Both year groups, therefore, requiring their knowledge of their times tables to be on top form. From now on, Year 4 will be having weekly, timed, times-tables tests - results will be in their planners each week.
Homework is back to normal this week with maths due in on Wednesday and spellings and Literacy on Thursday.
