Investigator Class Term 2: Week 2
The children have worked hard this week to understand about our new topic of 'Ancient Greece'. We began by learning about the Gods and Goddesses that were worshipped and created a very complex family tree! - We certainly weren't sure how to show the birth of Athena from Zeus' forehead!!

Looking ahead this week
We begin the week by thinking about what our God or Goddess would be like - traits, appearance - and applying for Zeus' job. We will then start to look at the Greek Empire and how they became so powerful. We will be adding our new learning to our Powerpoint projects each week; this week I will be teaching the children how to access and work on their projects from home!
In maths, we complete a second week of 'Length & Perimeter', focusing on how to calculate the perimeter of rectangles and rectilinear shapes.
Notices:
Please ensure children have a healthy snack to eat at break time. This is to help them to keep focused during maths and stay fuller for longer.
Please do ensure all children have a waterproof jacket to come into school, a spare pair of shoes for the walled garden is now highly recommended as we enter the wetter months.
It is also advised that children wear layers under their uniform. Due to covid levels increasing, we are keeping doors and windows open as much as possible to allow good air flow and the classroom can be a bit chilly at times.
I have asked some children to stay in through lunchtime this week because their homework was not completed. This isn't something I want to do and I have explained to the children about taking responsibility for their own learning. Please do encourage them to do this at home, they are really happy to hand in completed work.
Please remember to bring clarinets into school each Wednesday! Eight children forgot them last week and it is a little boring for them to sit and watch others playing.
Thank you!
Homework:
Mental Arithmetic homework should be completed and handed in on Wednesday morning.
English Skills homework should be completed and handed in on Thursday morning.
Spelling Tests take place on Thursday.
Have a lovely week!
