Investigator Class Term 1: Week 8
At the end of last week, we all made our pumpkin soup! We had some wonderful conversations about different types of produce and squashes. We all had a go at peeling, chopping and slicing onion, carrot, garlic, potato, red kuri squash, butternut squash and pumpkin! The children behaved beautifully and really took on the challenge of making a whole class pot of soup!
We had a chance to do some lovely observational drawings of our pumpkins earlier on in the week - here they are. Can you spot yours?

Looking ahead to our last week of this term
We will begin by evaluating our pumpkin soup; whether the children liked it or not and what improvements could be made. Later in the week we will be conducting a short writing assessment on learning so far this term.
In maths, we will wrap up our unit on addition and subtraction with a quick assessment on this unit. We will then explore some mathematical investigations and some games that involve strategic thinking.
Could I please reiterate that the children need a healthy snack to eat at break time, particularly if they are having a hot meal as they are really hungry by 10:45am. A piece of fruit is ideal for them to eat at this time of day.
Please do ensure all children have a waterproof jacket to come into school, a spare pair of shoes for the walled garden is now recommended.
Homework
I have noticed a drop in homework completion in the last couple of weeks. Please ensure that your child has completed homework; after half term, they will be expected to stay in to complete it if this isn't done at home.
Mental Arithmetic homework should be completed and handed in on Wednesday morning.
English Skills homework should be completed and handed in on Thursday morning.
Spelling Tests take place on Thursday.
Have a wonderful last week of term!
