Investigator Class Term 1: Week 3

Last week we got to know each other as we worked in teams, we communicated with each other and were able to build our dens!

I was very proud of how well the children did - we then used our experiences to write a set of instructions to explain; 'How to Build a Shelter'.

This week:

In English, we will turn our hand some more creative writing. We will look at nature and the language we can use to describe it then challenge ourselves to write a poem about the nature around us, attempting to create some rhyming couplets. Some children may even attempt to write their own sonnet!

We continue our maths unit on Place Value this week moving on to some bigger numbers for both Year 4 and Year 5.

Mental Arithmetic homework should be completed and handed in on Wednesday morning, English Skills homework should be completed and handed in on Thursday morning.

Spelling Tests take place on Thursday.

We have been talking about 'respecting everyone' in our PSHCE lessons which continue this week. In RE we explore the act of worship and what that means.

Please do ensure all children have a waterproof jacket to come into school with as children are not able to play outside in wet weather without one. The walled garden is quite wet under foot so it is a good idea for children to also have a spare pair of shoes with them too.

Have a wonderful week!

Best wishes,

Mrs Burbedge
