Endeavour Class -The Week Ahead.

Dear Endeavour Class,

This week we are learning about the Native Americans - the indigenous people of North America before any colonisation took place. We will be finding out about different tribes across the continent, focussing on their beliefs, cultures and traditions.

In English,we are improving our writing of persuasive texts and learning about myths and legends of the Native Americans. We will also be exploring the symbolism of Totem Poles and designing our own spiritual Native American animal.

This month is BARVEMBER! Within maths we are doing daily problems that need 'bars' to visualise and work out the answer. Other maths topics are formal methods of division - practising short division and beginning to understand long division.

Please continue practising times tables. This knowledge to recall facts quickly is vital to help with many maths concepts. There will be regular tests every week.

Please use the Times Tables Rock Stars website. Your child has a personal login which they know.

Spellings have been sent home and will be tested next Thursday on the 26th November. A copy is below. Maths homework is Test 8, due in 26th November, when it will be marked. If your child finishes their homework earlier, then they are welcome to bring it into school before the due day. English homework this term is due in on a Wednesday. This week Test 3 is due in on 25th November.

A reminder too that P.E. days are on Monday and Wednesday and to bring in a coat and a change of shoes with the weather being cooler and wetter. All breaks will be outside unless it is torrential rain. If your child is in Year 5 and attends Forest School on a Wednesday, please ensure they have a full set of warm waterproof clothing which must be changed into during lunchtime so they are prepared for the afternoon and whatever the weather maybe that day. Please see the curriculum letter for more information about Term 2.
