Endeavour Class -The Week Ahead.
Dear Endeavour Class,
As we enter the second week of our topic, we will be looking into the Civil Rights Movement.
We will be listening to famous speeches and finding out what made them persuasive and examining the thoughts and feelings of the American citizens from that time by discussion and debate. From there we will be writing our own persuasive texts.
Maths topics are continuing with division and exploring factors and multiples.
Please continue practising times tables. This knowledge to recall facts quickly is vital to help with many maths concepts. There will be regular tests every week.
Please use the Times Tables Rock Stars website. Your child has a personal login which they know.
Spellings have been sent home and will be tested next Thursday on the 12th November. A copy is below. Maths homework is Test 6, due in 12th November, when it will be marked. If your child finishes their homework earlier, then they are welcome to bring it into school before the due day.
We are starting regular English homework this term. Please find an English Skills book sent home last week with your child. We are starting at the first test and will be due in school on a Wednesday. The format is similar to the maths homework. For this week only, I have asked this is returned to school on Monday 9th November, regardless if they have started, so that they can use some lesson time to have any support if needed as it has a new style of questions.
A reminder too that P.E. days are on Monday and Wednesday and to bring in a coat and a change of shoes with the weather being cooler and wetter. All breaks will be outside unless it is torrential rain. If your child is in Year 5 and attends Forest School on a Wednesday, please ensure they have a full set of warm waterproof clothing which must be changed into during lunchtime so they are prepared for the afternoon and whatever the weather maybe that day. Please see the curriculum letter for more information about Term 2.
