Endeavour Class: Term 3, Week 2
We all had a very excited start to the term; the children were so happy to see each other and we have kicked off our new topic with some interesting geography learning about South America.

This week we are going to begin by reading and discussing some fables from different countries and those specifically from countries in South America. We will work in groups to discuss the key features we notice and then plan our own fables. Our fables will be written for KS1 - we will make a book of our fables and pass them to Challenger and Highflyer to enjoy.
We continue our learning units in maths - Y6 are learning about ratio and Y5 will complete their fractions unit, followed by a short assessment.
Our geography lesson will involve learning about the Andes and other mountains in South America.
Homework books are due in on Wednesday and Thursday this week, please ensure that children have completed it and handed it in on the correct day. Spellings will be tested on Thursday too.
We are not using a large class text this term due to only being in school for five full weeks before our residential. We will be reading and writing short stories and I am reading Journey to the River Sea by Eva Ibbotson to the class. Some children already have the book and I have told them they are welcome to bring it in to read along with.
Out Yenworthy trip will take place on the last week of this term - if you have any worries or concerns, please do catch me at the end of the day or pop me an email and we can have a chat. Similarly, if your child needs any medication either for travel sickness or one off treatments, they need to be given to a member of staff and a note taken about when it needs to be administered, before the trip. Please do not pack any medications with your child's belongings for them to take independently.
Please find a copy of the kit list below should you need it.
I hope you have a wonderful week!
