Endeavour Class: Term 2, Week 2

What a busy start to the term!

The children have been in high spirits all week and have thoroughly immersed themselves in our writing of suspense stories. I have been incredibly impressed at their commitment to build tension in their writing and consideration for the reader - a HUGE well done to everyone!

Please do have a read of one of our stories here:

Enormous congratulations also go to those who took part in our cross country meet on Thursday: Mustafa, Kayla, Masha, Rhea, Rosie, Ollie and Oakley all ran to represent Nettlebed at Langtree.

We absolutely love taking as many children to sporting events as possible, this solely relies on transport. If you are able to help out, even on an ad hoc basis, please do get in touch with Mrs Sedwell who will be happy to take you through the process of signing up as a volunteer driver.

The Week Ahead:

We will begin to learn about myths and legends - what is the difference? What are the features of well known legends? What do we need to write our own legend? We will explore Beowulf in detail and then consider the story of King Alfred.

In maths, year 5 are still working through factors and multiples - learning which requires good knowledge of their times tables - and will move on to higher numbers throughout the week. Year 6 will begin the week with a short assessment on our last block of learning before beginning a whole new unit of work on fractions.

Year 6 are invited to the Remembrance Service on Friday so could I please ask that they come to school on school uniform and bring their PE kit in, to change into after the service?

Homework should now be back to normal, please do make sure that the children are reading, practising spellings and completing all homework books - further information will be in planners.

I hope you have a brilliant week!

Mrs Burbedge
