Dear Parents and Carers,
This week in English we are focusing on techniques of reading comprehension and creative writing using our imagination - based on forests and woodlands. Also this week is National Poetry Day, so we will be looking at some fun poetry at the end of the week and listening to Michael Rosen as he recites and explains some of his poetry that he has enjoyed writing.
Also this week is the first of two Buddy Introduction assemblies on Friday. The Year 6s will also be busy writing and preparing for this as they introduce their new Buddies to the rest of the school. If your child is in Year 6, you will already have been sent an email with details about this.
In maths we are moving on to division but using the knowledge of multiplication and the previous operations to help us understand how to do the formal methods of division. The knowledge of times tables is really important, especially in using division, so please encourage your child to practice a little every day. Don't forget they have a login to Times Times Rocks Stars.
Reminders: P.E. days are Tuesday and Friday for Year 6. Forest School for Year 5s is on Tuesday and P.E. is on Friday.
Homework has been given out for Maths and English - this week Section 1 Test 4 is due in on the appropriate day. Your child will have brought a book home for each subject. Maths is due in on Wednesday, English Skills is due in on Thursday. Please see below the links for the letter and for the current spellings.
