Running News – Whatever the weather Nettlebed runs!

Nettlebed runners ran in three events this week - in the rain, in the sunshine and in the cold.

South Oxfordshire Primary Championships

On Tuesday, twenty runners competed in the rain at the South Oxfordshire Primary Championships at Rotherfield FC. This is the qualifying round for the County Finals and we had high hopes for our teams. This is a tough course and the wet conditions made it even harder. Everybody gave their all and we are delighted that in every race Nettlebed teams performed very well. Well done to all of our brave runners and especially well done to:

Olly and Millie who won their races and to the Year 5/6 Boys (Olly, Jake, Maxwell, Barnaby and Josh) who came 3rd in the team event. They have all qualified and will compete in the county final on 11th December.

Inter House Cross Country

Despite forecast rain, the sun came out and shone on our Inter House Cross Country event. We had a wonderful morning with so many examples of children reaching up and reaching out; everyone tried their hardest on their run and were cheering and supporting all the runners when they were spectating. Well done Nettlebed and congratulations to Hestia who were the winning House.

Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge November race

There was bright sunshine but it was a very cold morning for the November race in the winter series. Just twelve runners ran for Nettlebed and they all put in some great performances. We came away with four medals; Issy and William came second in their races and Millie and Olly both came first. The Year 4 Girls team (Olivia, Bridget and Isolde) came third in the team event.
