Welcome to Term 5
Welcome back to a fabulous term 5. I hope you all have had a refreshing break.
The new drop off went very smoothly this morning and the children all ran into school with a skip and a jump. Please remember that if you need to get a quick message to the teacher in the morning you can:
Email the office
Pop in to reception before 8.50 ask to speak to them quickly
After 8.50, leave a message with Mrs Sedwell
The gates will be closing at 8.55 promptly and so any late comers need to come into reception and sign in please.
We have begun out exciting new whole school topic of ‘The brain’. This morning, we were all neurones in assembly! We are all learning about how the brain impacts our behaviour, emotions and learning. We will be developing a whole school approach to emotions and vocabulary linked to them. Different year groups will then be exploring further into the world of brains by exploring dreams, history of brain understanding, different parts of the brain and Artificial intelligence amongst other things. The teachers have excitedly been planning new lessons and new topics to link all areas of the curriculum together.
As such, we would like to invite parents to come and hear all about our learning at a parent forum. In order to reach as many parents as possible, we will be running two sessions on the same day. At both sessions will be opportunities to see children’s work, their classrooms and have an input into developments in school. There will be a Head teacher’s talk at both sessions relating to our whole school topic which will provide many of the resources we are using in school should you wish to use them at home too.
Session 1 Wednesday 9th May 2018 3.45 – 4.45pm
Session 2 Wednesday 9th May 2018 6.30 – 7.30pm
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the sessions.
You will notice that we have not sent home curriculum newsletters this term. This is because much of the work we are wanting to share with you at the parent forum and the children are developing it over the next few weeks. If you are unable to come to the parent forum, then paper copies will be provided so you won’t miss out! You will find a copy of your child’s timetable on their class page on the website.
