Friends of Nettlebed School (FONS)

Welcome to the Friends of Nettlebed School (charity no. 1091177)

FONS is responsible for organising a range of fun fundraising and social events throughout the school year.  We are committed to being an inclusive body that delivers our vision:

“to work together to promote a strong sense of school community while simultaneously raising funds which will be used to enhance every child’s experience at Nettlebed School”.

Although all parents are part of FONS, it is run by a small, committed group of parent volunteers who always welcome the support and involvement of others to deliver our goals.  We work hard to bring together the school, families and staff to promote a real sense of school community, fun and achievement.

Recent events we have held include school discos, quiz nights, colour runs, a Christmas present room and the annual fete.  We are now developing plans for larger sponsored events including a dad’s night walk, camp outs and a possible community-wide event.  FONS takes pride in our school and so each term we also arrange a community day during which families come together to paint, fix and clear up in a fun and cost-effective way.

This year we will be raising funds to support developing outdoor learning at the school, increasing music provisions, providing transport to sporting events and much much more.  We have also launched a new and ambitious goal to raise an additional £20,000 (over two years) to give the playground a complete overhaul!  Previously, FONS have contributed heavily to installing the all-weather pitch and interactive white boards.

If you have any questions about FONS, please e-mail us at fonscommittee@gmail.com .  You can also follow us on Facebook.

We hope to see you at future events!
