Good morning to you all.

I hope everyone has had a good weekend. We are in the last week of the term and I wanted to say thank you to all for your hard-work and dedication with the home school learning.

This week we will be looking at the life of Helen Beatrix Potter. She best know for writing and illustrating children's books featuring animals, such as those in The Tale Of Peter Rabbit.  This is a lovely way to end our Victorian topic. It has been great to see children have taken a great interest and enjoyed the topic set for term 6. I'm sure this week will be no different.

Maths has now been emailed to parents of both year groups 2 and 3. I have also emailed the SPaG to all parents in year 3.

This is a reminder to all parents who need to send in their completed reports to the office. The reports can then be printed and sent back to you as a record.

Hope you all have a good week ahead!

We are in our final week of our topic. I wanted to say thank you to all the parents and children for all their hard work over the last few weeks.  It has been fantastic to receive all the writing, painting/ art, making models and power point presentations on the Great Fire Of London.

Week 3

May 03, 2020

Hello and I hope you all are well

I am so pleased to see the children's enthusiasm each term and how keen they are to learn about the topics. This term is no exception, I am delighted with all the work that has been coming in each week . I am very grateful to all the parents for the updates. I must add the zoom sessions have also been brilliant to see and talk to the children. I am so pleased to hear that the children are enjoying all the learning, how proud they are each week of their achievements.

This week in English we are looking at Samuel Pepys and the children will be writing a biography. I have attached a button on the page to look at an example and what the children will need to research. There is also a comprehension passage for those who would like to either revisit or complete this activity.

Term 5

April 19, 2020

It has been so lovely to see so many on our zoom sessions and the children joining in the assembly. A special thanks to all the parents for all the help, support and encouragement. The children in Discovery have worked so hard. I am so pleased to receive regular emails regarding all the lovely learning, acts of kindness, patience and progress the children have made.

Our  topic launch of  the Great Fire Of London has been fantastic, it's great to see the children have shown such enthusiasm.

The plans and overview in English have now been set up to help you dip in and out and to allow planning in advance. As normal daily plans will be on the web page.

I am looking forward to seeing the children on our zoom sessions in the coming week.

Hello

April 19, 2020

I hope you are all well and enjoyed a few days off from the home school learning.

It was so lovely to see so many faces on the last day of term in our zoom assembly. As previously mentioned in my email, we were hoping to organise more meetings on zoom. All being well and technology working as it should, I am hoping to schedule a meeting 3 times a week with my class. This will be an informal meeting and a launch of our new topic in term 5. I will read the the children a story about The Great Fire Of London. The sessions are roughly 30 minutes and this is also an opportunity to say 'hello'. As normal, I will send out the details of the meeting to all parents in Discovery Class.

I shall look forward to seeing you all soon!

Happy Easter

April 09, 2020

A very Happy Easter to you all. We are very lucky to have this glorious weather and I hope you all have had a bit of a break from all the home learning.

It was so lovely to see so many faces in our assembly last Friday. I am looking forward to seeing you on zoom soon after the Easter break.

Our next topic is 'The Great Fire of London'. There will be daily plans on the web page after the Easter break on Monday 20th April 2020. Given the current and very strange situation, Ms Roberts and I felt that the we will axe 'The Great Plague' as we thought this could be upsetting for the children. If you feel your child will be alright with this Topic. I am happy to put links on the daily plans should you wish to discuss this with your child.

Thank you all for doing such an excellent job with all the home learning. Enjoy the sunshine and have a lovely Easter.

Home Learning

March 25, 2020

Hello Everyone,

Another beautiful day, I hope you managed to enjoy another warm and sunny day .

This is a message to all parents and I really cannot stress enough. This is a very difficult situation we are all finding ourselves in. I wanted to say a big thank you for all the support  with your children's home learning, alongside spinning umpteen number of plates at the same time.

Some days will be great and others not so great! Please don't worry too much, if you were not able to do a particular activity. It can happen another time or day. The links are there for the resources on twinkl for you to use. Also please, don't feel the pressure to print every document. The questions could be on the screen and your child can either copy or just answer the questions in a note book or on paper.

The important thing is to do some of that learning that doesn't happen in school. The maths does not have to be complicated either! Lots of addition and subtraction can be done with objects in the house, money, measuring the perimeter of the room, jumps in the garden, height of furniture or people. Weighing out ingredients for cooking, or weighing different objects, telling the time, learning your time tables using BBC super movers songs, active learn games drawing and painting pictures are all good activities.

Please be assured everyone is in this together and we can only do our best. On that note, I wish you all a good day, stay safe and well.

24.3.2020

I hope you all have managed to soak up some of that lovely sunshine! This understandably is a very difficult period for us all. On the up side, it is a great opportunity to do all that fun learning outside of school, like cooking, learning a new skill and playing games.

Apologies, it has taken a bit of time to get things sorted on the web page and really appreciate your help, support and patience so we can iron out any issues that arise.

I hope everyone is well and stay safe.

Please find attached Year 2 maths document.
