Y5: Bones, Grubs and Galls

The children are now very familiar with the site and starting to think about different ways to use it, and this shows in their play and creativity.

Olivia and Summer were digging in a newly cleared paths and came across some animal bones. This sparked a huge conversation about what animal they had belonged to - rabbits, birds, mice - and how we might find out. Ophelia mentioned how in some tribes people make jewellery out of bones and these can be really sacred... but this idea made some of the girls turn their noses up! Summer and Olivia were keen to wash the bones so we could work out what they had come from, and then bury them - she laid them out nicely in a pan so that they could be measured.
