Term 2 in Challenger - the week ahead

I hope everyone has had a relaxing half term break. Here we go with another term packed full of learning and hopefully some fun too.

This term’s topic is The British Isles and our learning will focus on the physical and human geography of our island nation. Later on, we’ll take a look at the customs and traditions and the folk tales from different regions.

In the first week back we’ll be finding out facts about the British Isles and using atlases and other resources to research the countries, cities and major landmarks.

Before half term in maths, we looked at strategies for addition and at the beginning of this term we will look at the inverse operation; children will be learning a range of strategies for carrying out subtraction.

PE will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays as last term. For other information please refer to the curriculum newsletter by clicking on the button above. You will also find other useful links at the top of this page.

This week's phonics focus is on alternative pronunciations for i, o, c, g and u. Please click here for this week's spelling lists.
